An exercise in deductive tasting, all levels are welcome. Each session we present a theme, and focus our tasting and theory work accordingly. Event led by Master Sommelier Nick Davis.
The theme for this week is Beaujolais! November is the classic time of year for this lovely region of France, with top wines sourced from individual villages within the region. In this special tasting theme, we feature all 10 of the Crus, with some rare features including 2011 Yvon Metras Fleurie l’Ultime. The Gamay grape frequently offers tones of sour raspberry, fresh wisteria, space dust, sliced jungle fern, and the dissonant tension of Chopin minor chords.
These wines go way beyond the jejune quality of Nouveau that is often associated with the region, into “vins de garde” that are truly world-class, rather earthquake inducing. Each village produces fruit of distinct personality, with producer style offering equal impact. Join Nick, to discover these marvelous wines!
